48 И уви́дел их бе́дствующих в плавании,
48 And [had seen, saw, seeing, seen, seeth] [them, their] [distressed, people in distress] [at, in, of, on] плавании,
потому́ что ве́тер им был проти́вный;
[because, that is why, therefore] [what, that, why] wind [it, them] [be, to be, was, were] [contrary, nasty];
о́коло же четвёртой стра́жи но́чи подошёл к ним,
[near, nearby] [but, same, then] [fourth, the fourth] guardians [night, nights] (came up) [to, for, by] him,
идя по мо́рю,
[going, moving, walking] [along, by, in, on, to, unto] sea,
и хоте́л минова́ть их.

And he saw that they were making headway painfully,

walking on the sea.
