17 Подня́в её,

17 [By Raising, Picking Up] her,

ста́ли употребля́ть посо́бия и обвя́зывать кора́бль;

[be, become, get] use benefits and [bind, tie] ship;

боя́сь же,

afraid [but, same, then],

что́бы не сесть на мель,

[to, so that, in order to, because of] [never, not] [sit, sit down] [at, by, in, it, on the, to, toward, upon] мель,

спусти́ли па́рус и таки́м о́бразом носи́лись.

[lowered, they let me down] sail and so [in a manner, lifestyle, way] (they were running around).

Which when they had taken up,
they used helps,
undergirding the ship;
and,
fearing lest they should fall into the quicksands,
strake sail,
and so were driven.
