40 я томился днём от жара,

40 i томился [day, daytime, in the afternoon] from жара,

а но́чью от стужи,

[while, and, but] [at night, by night, night] from стужи,

и сон мой убегал от глаз мои́х.

and [dream, sleep] [mine, my] убегал from eye [mine, my, of mine].

There I was:
by day the heat consumed me,
and the cold by night,
and my sleep fled from my eyes.
